The Association of Historical and Artistic Kilns of Impruneta

The Association of the Historical and Artistic Kilns of Impruneta was created to protect the inestimable heritage of knowledge, memories and specific qualities of the territory.

Only a few terracotta producers in Impruneta share the close link with the territory, the respect of the traditions, the pursuit of quality and the same work concept, in which professional skills are mixed with culture and art.

Specifically these terracotta producers are: “Fornace Masini di Impruneta”, “Manifattura Imprunetana Terrecotte Artistiche e Laterizi (M.I.T.A.L.)”, “Antica Fornace Poggi Ugo Terrecotte” and the young artisan “Massimo Carbone”, who joined the association recently.

All the production of the Associates is completely handmade, with different techniques (such as mold, “posteggiatura” and “guscio”), and uses only the original Impruneta clay with the characteristic blue-grey color which is only granted within the administrative borders of the Municipality of Impruneta.

The Association of the Historical and Artistic Kilns of Impruneta wants to improve the quality and the culture behind each produced masterpiece, which has on it the rhombus-shaped brand beside the brand of the producing company.
