POGGIUGO TERRECOTTE IMPRUNETA, OUR HISTORY
The kiln, archaic synonym of oven, core focus revolves around what they are and spread throughtout the production.
The structure with an adjacent quarry one of the most oldest and largest kilns in the area dating back to 1300 was purchased by Tommaso Tobia Poggi in 1919 by Vanni’s family and was soon joined by his sons Augusto and Ugo. From the production of bricks, tiles gutters, basins, jars of oil will increase significantly the garden furnishings in all its forms.
Early since 1946 the kiln of Poggi Ugo begins exporting pottery in Germany, who becomes the leading market.
From the ‘60s Belgium, Switzerland, France, England , Austria start importing and after a while even the United States, Australia, Japan and many other countries have appreciated this fine pottery.
Since ‘70s export shares exceeds 70% of sales in over 3 countries around the world.
In 1982 the activity continues with the daughters Licia and Liliana, who in memory of her father make Poggi Ugo an unique name in the complex world of clay.
For several years the fourth generation, Antonella and Lorenzo Andrei manage the activity maintain the ancient traditions that have made the company great.
In 2002 rises the “Design Collection” , a catalogue offering for the first time clay for modern products exceeding 1300 items.
